Mates of State Take Off Their Clothes

Mates of State are peta2's latest spokespeople, speaking out on anti-fur issues and shooting their latest anti-fur ad. The band joins in the ranks with Bloc Party and Fall Out Boy for peta2's newest campaign.

Via peta2.com:

Kori and Jason of Mates of State have been muses for many a hipster’s late-night journal scribblings on what it would be like to rock out for a living side-by-side with your boo. It has been said before, but we will say it again: This husband-and-wife duo border on the achingly adorable. From their love-gaze-filled shows to their “finish each other’s sentences” interviews, they are truly an indie rock dream.

Mates of State are also a peta2 dream, because they can’t stand fur either. They want people to drop the pelts of tortured animals from their wardrobe so badly that they were not afraid to make a statement by taking it all off for the cause.

Head to the peta2 website for a chance to win an iPod with Mates of State's latest LP Bring It Back.

I think people should take a good hard look at what PETA is about. I would never add my support for such an organization. It confuses many issues ( like fast food, vegetarianism, fur trade, etc) and builds a construct that is not really anything useful. I think it is more harmful in the end. Instead of supporting organizations like PETA (which "liberate" cats and ferrets in the US) send your money overseas if you have the extra cash that is. Memberships in organizations such as PETA are a sign of wealth.
