The Mates Are Back!

Good news: Mates of State are coming back to NYC! And not only that, they've been in the studio recording their new album!

We have some action for your listening pleasure. There's a new record in the works -- we just recorded 3 songs with Chris Walla at Tiny Telephone, and later on we'll be recording with Jim Eno, Peter Katis, and Bill Racine, among others, in various locales.

We're trying out some new songs and re-arranging some old ones in the acoustic configuration some of you saw during the This American Life tour. Baby grand and all, these are special shows not-to-be-missed:

They'll be playing NYC twice in October, one rock show and one acoustic:

October 18th - Club NME @ The Annex [rock]
October 19th - Joe's Pub [acoustic]

And they'll also be playing two more acoustic shows, one in Northampton (10/24) and one in Boston (10/25).
