Indie Cookbook! Bands Share Their Recipies!
Move over Rachael Ray (and stop smiling for God's sake!)! Over a 100 bands like Voxtrot, Tilly and the Wall, Belle & Sebastian, Ben Kweller, Death Cab for Cutie, Devendra Banhart, The Hold Steady, The Violent Femmes, and Interpol have all contributed their favorite recipes in "I Like Food, Food Tastes Good", a cookbook compiled by brooklyn-based journalist, Kara Zuaro. It features recipes like Franz Ferdinand's Lemon Ginger Flapjacks, Camera Obscura's Vegetarian Paella, Battles's Roasted Bone Marrow, Patrick Phelan's Swanky Mac N Cheese w/ lobster and white truffles (high roller!), Interpol's Cacao Rosso, and Death Cab for Cuties Veggie Sausage and Peanut Butter Sandwich (hrmm... I think Ben Gibbard forgot to mention that he can't cook for shit).
According to Pitchfork, there will be a happy hour on the 25th at Hi Fi (Galen Polivka from The Hold Steady will be bartending! And they have a rad jukebox!), a release party at Union Pool on May 5, and an in-store performance at "the Brooklyn Barnes & Noble." Like Brooklyn has only ONE B&N... We have TWO, biatch! It's going to be at the Park Slope location on 7th Ave on May 17th... at which Kara will be doing a signing.
Stereogum also covered this in February, but the book hit the shelves today for $14 on Amazon (free super-saver shipping on orders over $25!). Pssst.. Maureen.. I want this for christmas.
