NOW That's What I Call Indie Rock?
You know those NOW That's What I Call Music vol. 2948 compilations that really aren't music? Yes... thank you NOW for shining some much needed light on eleven Britney Spears songs and eleven Backstreet Boys songs (I'm not joking.. I looked it up). Well, now (haha) it's the indie labels' turn with their compilations, modeled after today's NOW series. According to the billboard article, Vice Records (Bloc Party's label) will release Volume One, Matador (Belle & Sebastian, Brightblack Morning Light, etc) "has expressed interest in putting out volume two," and Sub Pop (indie conglomerate) is interested in doing volume three.
According to the article, "the yet-untitled series will feature artists such as Bloc Party, the Shins, Bright Eyes, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Silversun Pickups." Somebody want to tell me why this list has three bands who all have sucky latest records? And Silversun Pickups... bah.
Well, at least it's better than this oldie, but goodie:
Labels: Bloc Party, NOW, The Shins
